I have been doing a lot of thinking lately about what impact my family has had upon my education. Everyone in my family, especially my mother, illustrated good morals and self-control. However, our family had a lot of dysfunction (like most families. I dare say) and even though my parents were good moral, God-fearing people, they sometimes had actions that were quite the opposite.

Soccer looks to recapture invitational tourney title (The Red and Black)
The University soccer team begins the 2007 campaign Aug. 31 as the team hosts the Nike Invitational Challenge in Athens. This will be a four-team tournament featuring Texas Tech, Vanderbilt, Wisconsin and Georgia. Georgia won the last Nike event it participated in, capturing the Virginia Nike Classic in 2006 as freshman Carrie Patterson earned Tournament MVP honors.

Three deans start new beginnings at University (The Red and Black)
Over the summer, two University colleges and one University school selected new deans. The Terry College of Business, the College of Family and Consumer Sciences and the Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources all selected new leaders. The Terry College of Business' dean began his work at the University July 1.
